Velma Butler & Company is optimally structured to provide efficient and effective client services. The firm's personnel consist of Partners, Managers, Seniors and Staff. Together they represent over 125 years of professional experience.
Partner
Since 1991, Velma Butler has been the managing partner for Velma Butler & Company, Ltd., a small certified public accounting and consulting firm that addresses the auditing, training, accounting, financial management and computer needs of the public and private sector.
Prior to Velma Butler & Company, Velma was the Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Executive Director of the Chicago Housing Authority. She was a manager for the United States General Accounting Office, responsible for auditing HUD.
Managers
Lance Delgado, audit manager, has knowledge and skills that will be invaluable in assuring that high quality and consistent service is provided. His accomplishments of auditing and accounting has helped him demonstrate the understanding of all functional and operational problems of clients, successful time management skills, advanced trainings to enhance his skills and an analyzed and efficient outcome of all work completed.
Lance Delgado has over nine years of experience performing financial and compliance audits for governmental agencies. He has been the lead in risk assessment audits of both the external and internal side of governmental agencies.
Kwasi Butler, audit manager, demonstrates an effective understanding of functional and operational audit practices, including; internal control reviews, management accountability assessments and asset security evaluations. He also provides automated systems assistance at client sites as part of systems internal controls reviews, internetworking technology assessments, computerized organizational evaluations, and systems security analysis.
Over the years he has been successful at completing accounting, auditing and automated systems special projects and assisting management as necessary, interacting and communicating with client management and staff. He has conducted operational interviews and entrance and exit conferences, and has instructed internal audit training classes.
Staff
At VB&C our staff is knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Government Auditing Standards (GAS Yellow Book) and Generally Accepted Governmental Accounting Standards (GAGAS), as well as a proficiency in use of computers and computer accounting software programs. We train our staff to be analytical thinkers and give them skills to become good oral and written communicators.
